A set list fit for reunion
Posted by: Andrew Prince - 03-29-2018, 11:55 AM - Forum: Genesis - The Band - No Replies

Hi all,

Been thinking about the Mama set list....

If Genesis were to reform with Hackett and Gabriel, what would their set list look like for a UK tour?

Thoughts anyone?  :-)

Hi all,

Just thought you might like to see our new press release. This is being sent to many major news outlets, to try to get some coverage for GGTB and the bands involved. Feel free to pass it along to anyone whom it might interest.

I've attached the PDF original to this post. The text is also duplicated below:

British Genesis Tribute Bands Form Unique Partnership to bring Live Music to the fans

1st March 2018: Bands Create the Ancient Guild of Genesis Tribute Bands to promote one of the Greatest Prog Rock Band’s Music

It is very unlikely that Genesis will reform and tour again. A tragedy for music lovers. But all is not lost! There are some excellent Genesis tribute bands still flying the flag and playing gigs all over the UK, keeping the music of the greatest prog band of all, alive. However, there are thousands of fans who are entirely unaware that they can hear their favourite music in a live venue.

To remedy this situation three first class British based Genesis tribute bands have joined forces to create The Ancient Guild of Genesis Tribute bands; a collaboration to promote the live performance of what is undoubtedly the greatest progressive rock band ever. This collaboration is a unique solution to the promotional challenge that each of the bands face – how to get the best coverage and expand the market for the live performance of the music of Genesis in an affordable way.

The Guild comprises of bands Los Endos, Mama & Afterglow, all of whom are dedicated to the music of Genesis and to making sure fans of all ages and of all eras, get to experience top quality live performances of the highest musical standard and relive their favourite Genesis songs.

The idea came from Los Endos bassist, Martin Clarke, who says, “We want to reach out to the thousands of fans who thought they would never hear this music live again. It would be so easy for each of the bands to view the others as competition for a limited audience. We don’t believe that. We believe that together we can co-operate to hugely expand our audience and to give them the big budget concerts they crave”.

The website for http://www.ggtb.co.uk has been created by Andrew Prince of Mama and links to all the performances over the next few months by all of the bands. Additionally there are plans to use the Guild as an online forum for the active discussion of Genesis. The Guild is testing out the idea with a series of ads in Prog magazine starting with the March edition. In the future there are plans for festivals and further advertising campaigns.

Andrew, from Mama says “Regularly performing Genesis music live has allowed us to meet many like minded Genesis fans and build amazing friendships. Our new joint venture seeks to build on that by creating a single online space for fans and bands alike to discuss and find out about shows they’re interested in and the band we are all so passionate about - Genesis. With a bit of hard work and close cooperation with our friends in Los Endos and Afterglow, we hope to celebrate the music of Genesis with our audiences like never before.”

Andy, from Afterglow says “To us, being part of the Guild shows how passionate we feel about the music and we want to share our passion with Genesis fans”

The Ancient Guild of Genesis Tribute Bands believe this is the first time a group of competitor tribute bands in any genre of music have come together to collaborate in this way. By working together, they hope that they can bring Genesis back to the large scale venues this music truly deserves.

Martin says “As musicians, we have always viewed the chance to play this complex, challenging, beautiful music as an immense privilege. Los Endos have been together over ten years now, striving constantly to reproduce the sound and emotion of the great gigs of seventies and eighties. And I am sure all the bands in the Guild will deliver a fantastic musical experience to all fans of this music. Come to a gig and check it out – you will not be disappointed! ”

Los Endos, Mama and Afterglow are touring separately up and down the country this year – there is sure to be a show within reach of any mainland fan.

  Favourite Genesis medleys
Posted by: Andrew Prince - 03-05-2018, 01:55 PM - Forum: Genesis - The Band - Replies (1)

Hi all,

I was thinking about the different medleys that Genesis performed live over the years.... What's your favourite?

I actually quite liked the Soul / Mowtown medley they did at Wembley Stadium in, I think, 1985? Soon wore off though. That was the video that got me into Genesis, so I only discovered a lot of the older material later on.

I think my favourite medley is probably The Old Medley on The Way We Walk: The Longs. I love everything about that one! Especially Dance on a Volcano!  :-)

In fact... I'm going to listen to it right now!

Exclamation Afterglow at Hangar Farm 3rd March - Postponed
Posted by: QuadraDan - 03-02-2018, 03:47 PM - Forum: Afterglow - Replies (1)

Well, folks - after much careful consideration and with great regret, we’re afraid that we have to be the bearer of bad news, and postpone tomorrow’s gig at Hangar Farm, Totton.

We all got up this morning with the highest of hopes, but a number of singular events and a further fall of snow in the local area has now added up to a scenario whereby, as our primary concern is for the safety of our audience, the venue staff, and our tech crew, as well as ourselves, we have no choice but to postpone.

Firstly, travel in the local area is difficult, and the last thing we want is a stressful and unsafe journey for you all. If just one of our audience was hurt as a result of travelling to see us, we would never forgive ourselves.

Not only that, Pete, our Irish Phil, is currently at home in Limerick, and Dublin Airport is still closed. Whilst it may open tomorrow, and he may make it to Gatwick, the trains to Totton are not looking very reliable, and getting a car up there and back is just as risky.

We have contacted Hangar Farm, and apparently they have independently made the decision to postpone tonight’s event as well as our event tomorrow, which makes us feel that tough as it is, we have made the right call.

Finally, just as if that wasn’t enough, poor Andy has a family emergency which means that he now has to brave it up to Somerset, and may not be able to return to make the gig tomorrow.

Any of these issues in themselves are arguably enough to point to postponement, but combined, they represent a bigger force than Storm Emma itself.

We are really sorry, and whilst we still need to sort out the details with the venue, it is our intention to reschedule this event as soon as we can. The good news is that tickets will be transferable to the new date, so nobody should miss out in the end.

None of us could have foreseen such a crazy few days, and whilst we really appreciate the commitment of each and every one of you who have already chosen to come, we would much prefer to put on a show for you when all of us - audience and band - are much more relaxed.

Meanwhile, please, stay safe and warm, take no chances - and we are all going to use the time before we see you to learn “Snowbound” .....

All the very best,

Team Afterglow

  Afterglow Says Hello
Posted by: QuadraDan - 02-28-2018, 08:42 PM - Forum: Afterglow - Replies (3)

Well, let me be the first to welcome you all to our page.

I’d like to introduce you to the band, as I’m the only sociable member... (not really!)

On drums, we have Mr. Andrew Daish... he doesn’t say much but he has a lot of drum things.
On bass and guitars,we have Mr. Martin Wadsworth .... he’s quite quiet, but his Taurus pedals make up for that...
On guitars and more guitars, we have Mr. Michael Peatfield. He just keeps buying guitars.
On vocals, we have Irish Phil himself, Mr. Peter McDonagh. He’s actually a Scottish Irish chimaera, but he sings pretty well.

Oh, and there’s me - I’m Dan Parratt, and I have a few vintage keyboards that mostly work...

Lots to come from us, but please, post away and ask us questions.

DBP :-)
